Chang-Hwan Kang (Tommy, 81) was born Dec 6, 1937 in Korea. He passed away in Hobbs on March 27, 2019. He came to Hobbs in 1973 and was helped by the late James Murray III and Judge Don Maddox to get established. He was known to be very friendly, helpful, and kind. Everyone who came in contact with him always thought of him as reliable, honorable, and trustworthy. His passion in life was hunting. He was full of spirit, always on the go, and through his love of outdoor activities, he made so many friends that lasted a lifetime. He is survived by his son, Kiman Kang of Hawaii; a grandson, Simeon Kang of Hobbs; and granddaughter, Esther Kang of California.
So sad to hear of Tommy's passing. He was a good friend through the years I knew and worked with him. He will be missed by many people .

Tommy was such a dear soul. We've known him since he worked at Watson's. When he started his own vehicle repair business, we followed him. He was such a master of his craft and took great pride in his work. Every vehicle came out looking brand new. We never saw Tommy when he didn't have a smile on his face and a kind word. He will be truly missed. Joy Buhalts and "Merch" Merchant

I worked with Tommy at Watson Truck - one of the friendliest and most caring man I have ever met - always a smile on his face and pride in everything he did in life. He loved America with all his heart. One day he was at my house and his wife called he started speaking Korean and my 5 yearold grandson was in awe of him. He will be missed and there are just not too many people in the world with the kind heart of Tommy Kang
