In the early morning hours of May 27th, 2019 Nellie Ruth Key heard the call from Heaven to
“Come Home”. She left her earthly family to join her heavenly family. She now is in the
presence of the one she served for so long, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Nellie was born February 3, 1935 in French Camp, MS.
She leaves behind on this earth, one daughter, Debbie Greenlee (Jackie Brantner), two sons,

Nellie was preceded in death by three husbands, two sons, two grandsons, one
granddaughter, one great-grandson, a brother, and her parents.
Nellie Ruth was a Licensed Minister with the Assemblies of Faith, Inc. ministries. She had a love
for the Lord Jesus Christ and her family that was beyond compare. She was an accomplished
seamstress. Nellie was a hair dresser for many years. She attended Clara’s Beauty Academy in
Nellie’s hobby was making and dressing porcelain dolls. She would sew the clothes for the dolls as well.
It’s been said, “she was a jack of all trades” and it showed when you looked at the house she bought and then gutted and remodeled. She could do anything she put her mind to and it showed.
Nellie was dedicated to her family and friends and will be greatly missed, but will never be

Benny - I was so sorry to hear of your mom passing. I didn't know your mom, but from what I read on the obituary and the condolences, Heaven gained a wonderful woman and a faithful servant. Peace be with you and yours knowing she is with her King.

Nellie was a beautiful servant of the Lord. Fond memories of her and Pete singing at churches and functions. Always willing to share Christ wherever possible. Later seeing her at Bro Benny’s Church.
She is now rejoicing with the saints praising the Lord and Savior.

There are no words that can truly ever explain the impact that sweet Nellie Ruth had on me as a young teenager. She loved me, guided me, cooked for me, made me clothes, pierced my ears, was my beautician, and even disciplined me when I needed it and was with me for the birth of my first child. But what she did that most impacted me was that she loved me just as God loves his children, unconditionally. I will be forever grateful for this powerhouse of a lady who was simply unstoppable. I love you Nellie Ruth!! Fly hi "mom"!

Nellie Ruth was a beautiful soul and precious woman. I’m so grateful God put her in my life. She taught me so much about God! Her love for people was amazing and her prayers were great and powerful.
Though her smile is gone forever
and her hand I cannot touch
I still have so many memories
Of the one I loved so much.
Her memory is now my keepsake
Which with I’ll never part.
God has her in her keeping
I have her in my heart.
Sadly missed, but never forgotten.

What a privilege I was given to have Nellie Ruth as my dearest best ever long time sister~friend of 39 years! We met through singing and playing in church, then practicing in our homes. That led to the discovery of our mutual love for crafts and creativity of every kind and Mexican food too, specifically El Chico’s!
She became my nurse ~ caregiver after I had surgeries, helped me decorate my home with stunning floral arrangements, and shared Godly wisdom for relationship and finances and kids and cooking and more. Nellie Ruth took me to the beauty shop to have my hair done after my arms were broke, then brought me home and carefully gave me a manicure so my fingernails looked as pretty as my hair. When I moved 10 hrs away to Oklahoma with two young kids, my husband had to stay in Texas for almost three months to complete his job. A month and a half later, Nellie Ruth and Pete showed up with my refrigerator, and washer and dryer, because she understand how difficult life could be raising kids alone and without necessities.
And oh my, how she boldly loved God AND her family. Her kids were her life and she talked proudly about them very frequently, and always lovingly spoke of the rest of her family. She is truly an example of God’s Proverbs 31 woman. I miss her intensely and look towards the day we’ll rejoice together again, in heaven. If there’s crafting there, I’m sure we’ll be together, right in the middle of it all! My Nellie Ruth, forever dearest sister~friend. ❤️
