I served in the Army.

Michael T. Collins 70, was born November 17, 1948 to T. R. Collins and Betty Jane Collins in Hobbs, New Mexico. Mr. Collins is survived by his daughter, Julie Kaye Cummings and her spouse Cory Cummings of Andrews, TX; granddaughters, Alexandra, Taylor and Jessica; son, Cole Collins of Edmond, Oklahoma; brother, Steven Collins of Grapevine, TX, brother, Patrick and Susan Collins of Hobbs; sister, Katherine Collins of Hobbs; and parents T. R. and Betty Collins of Hobbs and many nieces and nephews.

Mike was formerly very active in the Hobbs community and served as the former Mayor of Hobbs, as a Hobbs City Commissioner, and served on the Economic Development Board of New Mexico.

Mike was a graduate of Hobbs Hight School, Class of 1967. He attended Oklahoma University on a track scholarship and remained an OU football fan until the end. Mike also served in the US Army reserves.

During his time in the workforce, Mr. Collins ran a large independent insurance brokerage firm insuring high risk oilfield service. He was a broker/agent for a New Mexico electrical power generation company. Mike then formed the Michael Collins Group, LLC, a 25 year independently contracted business development company. He served as director for many independently owned and operated oilfield service companies from Land Operation, Pipeline, Construction, Oilwell Drilling and Petroleum Refining, to Nuclear diffusion process at American Nuclear sites.

Mike’s children wish to sincerely thank everyone for their prayers and will wishes for our family. Our father will be greatly missed.
