Frances Allen Banks, 90, died Sat. Nov. 9th, 2019, in the Memory Care Unit of Landmark at Desert Gardens in Hobbs. She is now free from all her ailments & can unite with her Lord & Savior! She will also celebrate with all her many missed loved ones waiting there for her! She will be terribly missed by all who knew & loved her!
Frances was born to Samuel & Clara Opal (Jones) Ross, on June 17th, 1929 in Roswell, N.M. She was the eldest of 8 siblings. Her parents moved the family to Hobbs in the 1940’s, during the Hobbs oil boom. She had to quit school to help out the big family but got her GED later on in life. She met and married Franklin W. Allen in 1947. They lived in Hobbs most of their lives, having and raising 2 children and where Frank retired from the Hobbs Fire Dept. & Frances from Montgomery Ward Stores.
Frances was a loyal member of Eastern Star, Bethany Chapter. She loved going to the meetings & being with her friends. She loved to travel and was Snowbird for lots of years going to Mesa, Ariz. She loved going to dances, especially the Senior dances, bowling, playing cards with friends or family, or just visiting with family and friends. She always like to stay busy!
Frances is survived by a daughter, Barbara J. Ford, Hobbs; a son, Jack B. Allen, Florida; a brother, Samuel G. Ross (Beth), Calif.; 2 sisters, Carol J. Ross (Cliff Wolf), Calif. and Doris J. Harmonson(Bruce)TX. Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Micheal W. Ford (Isabel), Marlena W. Bushway(Don), Kris Allen(Shannon), all of Hobbs and Ross Allen, of Ariz also, her great-grandchildren, Jacob W. Ford (Monique), Colo., Eric M. Ford (Diana), Dallas W. Jenkins (Arthur), Randal T. Hall, Annedee Bushway, Summer Bushway, Katie Wright (Joe), Samantha Allen, and Maddie Allen, all of Hobbs. She also has 7 great-great grandchildren, all of Hobbs, numerous nieces, nephews and special extended families.
Preceding her in death were her three husbands, Frank Allen, John Berg, and Joe Banks, her parents, and 2 sisters, Oneta Brow (Jerry) and Kay Sherman, 2 brothers; Tommie Ross (Hilde) and Johnny Ross.
The family would like to thank Landmark at Desert Gardens for taking such good care of her all these months; her doctor, Dr. Wagner, Chapel of Hope for all their help and caring and also First Presbyterian Church of Hobbs.
