Ruth went into the arms of the Lord on August 1st. She was born in a small Texas town to Fred & Mary Bell into a life of prayer, devotion, and hard work. She pursued many endeavors that lead to a random chance meeting with Claude Williams that would forever change the course of her life. She was always by Claude's side as they navigated through life, loss, success, and hardships but she never wavered from her kind heart and passion to help others. Ruth always carried a song in her heart, whether it was a moving hymnal or a twangy ballad. Music was always one of the biggest pieces in her life. She had a deep love for her family and a big plate of catfish and a root beer.
She was a smiling face at Western Auto for many years where she was a friendly ear and a kind heart to all that worked and shopped there. Through Williams Construction, they helped the community far and wide in many different ways. That outreach continued even further when they retired and jumped into the world of softball.
Through over 20 years of sponsorship, they allowed thousands of kids the chance to play on teams, in tournaments, and touched the lives of so many. They were inducted into the NM USSSA Hall of Fame, had a field named after them at the Ziaplex in Hobbs, and had several tournaments named in their honor in several cities.
She will always be remembered with open arms and a big smile. She was a friend to all and embraced everyone from all walks of life. Everyone she met fell in love with her infectious kindness and gentle heart. She will be remembered fondly by many and will hold a special place in many people's hearts.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Claude, parents, and other siblings. She is survived by her daughters, her sister, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as many friends and acquaintances. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff with Kindred Hospice and the Beehive Assisted Living facility for going above and beyond during Ruth's final journey home.
