Our beloved Alma Martinez, passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2024, in Lovington, New Mexico at the tender age of 9. She was born on September 3, 2014, in Hobbs, New Mexico. She was a radiant light in the lives of all who knew her—a beacon of joy, curiosity, and boundless love.
Alma had a heart as big as her smile, always ready to share her laughter and kindness with everyone she met. Whether she was playing, dancing, cheering, or video calling all of her friends and family. Alma approached life with an infectious enthusiasm that inspired those around her. Her love for dancing and art was evident in everything she did. She had a special talent for bringing beauty into the world, whether through her colorful drawings, her love of music, or her infectious giggles and sassiness that could brighten even the darkest of days.
A beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, and classmate, Alma was cherished by her family, who will forever hold her in their hearts. Her sweet spirit and gentle soul left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
Alma is survived by her loving parents, Oscar and Kayla Martinez, her siblings Connie, Bella, Kammie, and Luke. Her grandparents, Homer/Maria Galvan of Lubbock, TX and great-grandmothers, Janet Adams, of Kokomo, IN and Lorenza Flores of SC. Her aunts and uncles; Dawn Johnson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Celina Mendoza (Abel) of Ranger, TX, Jordan Green, Bradley Green, and Kayden Green, all of Florida. Victor Martinez (Mandy) of Tatum, Erica Martinez of Levelland, TX, Ana Rios (Eric) of Lovington, Tim Galvan (Angie) of Lubbock, Gina Estrada (Seth) of Lubbock, and a large extended family who adored her.
She was welcomed into heaven by her grandmother Missy Flores and grandfathers Daniel Green and Victor Martinez Montañez Sr.
Though her time with us was far too brief and our hearts ache with her loss, we find solace in the love she left behind, and in the knowledge that her beautiful soul is now watching over us all.
Fly high, sweet angel. You will be missed more than words can express, but you will live on in our hearts forever.
