Anita Teague, 74, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Monday April 27, 2026. She was born on June 24, 1951, to Doyle and Flossie Leverett in Hobbs, New Mexico. She was the youngest of 3 sisters.
On August 8, 1969, Anita married her high school sweetheart, Bobby Ray Teague. The moment she saw him, she told her friends she was going to marry him. They later had one daughter Amanda, who was her pride and Joy. Anita was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who loved her family and the Lord, and dedicated her life to serving her family inside the home. Later in life she worked in retail, mostly at Kountry Korral, where she enjoyed being out in the community, connecting with people, and making new friends.
In 2002 she was blessed with her first grandson, Logan Rutledge, and then again in 2005 with her second grandson, Landon Rutledge. She loved them with her whole heart and treasured every moment she spent with them.
As a woman of deep faith, Anita loved the Lord and found joy in spending time with her family and friends. Nothing brought her more joy than having her entire family together, or spending time with her friends that she loved so dearly.
She leaves behind a legacy of love. She is survived by her loving husband Bobby Ray Teague, her daughter and son in law, Mandi and Jeremy Rutledge. Her grandsons, Logan and Landon Rutledge, her sisters Jo Striegl and Beverly (Dan) Gear, numerous nieces, a nephew, and so many precious friends she held close in her heart.
Anita is preceded in death by her parents Doyle and Flossie Leverett, her in-laws R.L. and Hazel Teague, and brothers in law, Bob Striegl and Glen Teague.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Light of Lea County in remembrance of Anita.
