Barbara Reid

Barbara Alice Reid, age 87, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, in Hobbs, NM.

Barbara Alice Reid was born May 16, 1935, in Madrid County, Missouri, to Joseph Beverly & Mary Ellen Apperson.  She married Henry W. Reid, Jr. in July 1953.  He preceded her in death on September 17, 1997.

Barbara was known to everyone as MeMa.  She was full of life and lived it to the fullest.  She loved Honky-Tokin’, hanging out and having a good time.  She made the best Chicken-n-Dumplings and Bon Bons you have ever eaten.  She was quick-witted and fast to get you and put you in your place.  Barbara and Henry Reid (Dube) owned and operated City Cab Company until his passing in 1997.

Barbara was preceded in passing by her parents, Joseph Beverly & Mary Ellen Apperson; three brothers: JB Apperson, Billy Ray Apperson, and Douglas Apperson; one sister, Louise Apperson, and two granddaughters, Wednesday Yoakum and Dana Rhoades-Hughes; and one daughter-in-law Gwen Reid.

She is survived by her sister, Imogene Hunt of Hobbs; four children: Gary Reid, Randy Reid (Vickie Reid), Sheila Roquemore, and Dianna McCann (David McCann), all of Hobbs; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be dearly missed by her family.
