Barbara Ward

Barbara June Wallace Ward beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed into her Saviors arms on September 14, 2012.
Barbara was born on February 4, 1934 to Benjmin Franklin and Elsie Mae Wallace in ODonnell, Texas. She married her high school sweetheart, Billy Clifton Ward on November 7, 1952. Together they raised their three children, Vicki, Kala and Greg in Walsenburg, Colorado, Morton and Seminole, Texas and finally, Hobbs, New Mexico. The Ward home was a gathering place for family and friends with an open invitation.
She is survived by her beloved husband of sixty years, Billy Clifton Ward daughters, Vicki Ancinec and husband, Brad of Plains, TX, Kala Massey and husband Greg of Hobbs, NM, and a son , Billy Greg Ward of Hobbs, NM. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Wallace and wife, Sharon of Odessa, TX grandchildren Cory Cummings, Kelsie Smith, Kris Ward, Clif Ward, Kalee Rich and Kagan Massey and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Elsie Mae Wallace, a sister and a grandson, Joe Kent Ward.
Barbara attended Seminole schools and Texas Tech University where she was a member of the Going Band From Raider Land.
Possessing a true servants heart, Barbara loved to serve spending days in constant service to others. She was a faithful member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church. A woman of faith and the heart of the Ward family, she shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. With a real zest for life she loved to read the Bible, go fishing, play games, sew, and spend time with family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 18, from 8am 7:30 pm with the family in attendance from 5:30 7:30pm. Also at 8am till noon on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will be at Gaines County South Cemetery following the church service.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Mexico Childrens Home, Gideons, Taylor Memorial Baptist Church building fund or Cal Farleys Childrens Home.
Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
