Bescelia Lanehart

Bescelia Kaye Lanehart, 66, of Hobbs, New Mexico passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 in Midland, TX.  Bescelia was born on November 27, 1953 to Rudolph and Evelyn Lanehart in Garden City, Kansas. She was raised in Hobbs, graduated from Hobbs High School and was employed by the City of Hobbs.  Bescelia then moved to Odessa, worked for Parker Drilling and married David Jones. They had a son, David Leslie Jones, and moved to Little Rock, Arkansas and then to Littleton, Colorado. During this time, she was a stay at home mom taking care of her family.

Bescelia made her way back home to Hobbs as a single mom and worked for Hobbs High School Administration Office for 31 years, retiring March of 2019.  She took great pride in her work as a mom and as an employee of Hobbs High School. Bescelia, like her mother, was a caretaker of all family and friends around her.  She loved spending time with her granddaughter, Brianna, and her great nephews and great nieces. She also enjoyed going to Las Vegas and Ruidoso with her sisters, traveling to see her son and his family and having garage sales.  She took great care of her cats, Brad and George, as well as all other strays that came her way.

Bescelia is survived by her son, David Leslie Jones and wife Nat, one granddaughter, Brianna, sisters Barbara Myers and husband Curt, Brenda Williams and husband Dennis, Betsy Lanehart, Beverly Ott and husband Russ, nephews Dennis Williams Jr and wife Misty, Todd Williams and wife Amy, Micah Williams and wife Dana, great nephews Gannon and Deegan and great nieces Audrey and Trinity.

Bescelia is preceded in death by her late parents, Rudolph and Evelyn Lanehart.

The family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Hospice of Midland for their support and care during the past month.
