Bessie Morrow

Bessie “Marie” Ward Morrow was born June 25, 1923 in Pleasant Hill, Texas in East Texas to John Thomas and Della Lorene (Cole) Ward.  She passed from this earthly world to eternal glory on January 5, 2020 in Hobbs at age 96 surrounded by family.

She was married to William “Elmer” Morrow for 56 years before his passing in 1999.  Also preceding her to glory were her parents, five older brothers---Revis, Walter, Richard Thomas, Sam and William (Bill) as well as daughter, Gwen Bush, son-in-law J E Teague and four great grandchildren, Taylor Bradshaw, Canyan Summers, Caleb Bush and Lyla Boland.

She is survived by son Terry Morrow & wife Judy of Weed, NM, son-in-law Charley Bush of Brady, Texas, daughter Virginia Teague of Hobbs, NM and daughter Anita Tindle and husband Mike of Midland, Texas plus 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

After graduating from high school in Roxton, Texas in 1942 she moved with her parents to Cuthbert, Texas near Colorado City.  Soon she was engaged to Elmer and they were married on November 25, 1943 in Dunn, Texas.  On Christmas Day 1951 they moved to Monument, NM where they lived together of 56 years before she moved to Good Life Senior Living in Hobbs.

Marie was a devoted and active member of Monument Baptist Church for 66 years where Elmer was a deacon and she taught Sunday School then tended the nursery for as long as she could.  She was a Proverbs 31 woman taking her role as wife, mother, homemaker and spiritual teacher very seriously.   She cooked amazing comfort foods, sewed, gardened and passionately prayed for family, friends and strangers by name becoming a great woman of faith and a powerful prayer warrior.

She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.  A special “thank you” to the staff of Good Life and Star Health Care for their kind and compassionate care.
