Betty Harrelson

Betty Mae Davis Harrelson passed away on April 21, 2020, in Hobbs.  Betty was born July 5, 1925, in Cisco, Texas.  She married her husband, Monroe, on December 21, 1946, in Cisco, Texas. Graduating from Texas Christian University in 1946, she also earned a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Wyoming in 1969.  Betty, also an artist, loved teaching the sixth grade at Sanger Elementary in Hobbs for 26 years and traveling with Mo. She was preceded in death by Monroe, a coach, teacher, and administrator with the Hobbs School System for 26 years and her granddaughter Jenny.  Survivors include her son, Bill Harrelson, and wife, Karen Buntin, of Santa Fe, NM; daughter Karen Read and husband, Robyn, of Montgomery, AL; daughter Nancy Otto and husband, Larry, of Hobbs; and daughter Linda Leggett and husband, Jay, of Cantonment, FL. She was blessed with six surviving grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Betty Mae was buried beside her husband at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, Hobbs, NM.
