Betty Shepard

Mrs. Betty Jo Shepard went to her eternal resting place on September 9, 2022, at the age of 87 years old. She was born in Crane, Texas on February 13, 1935, to the proud parents of Lloyd and Clarice Parton. She married Gary Shepard at 19 years old on June 9th, 1954.  Betty and Gary moved to Hobbs in the early 60’s, and opened an oilfield company, L.A.C.T. Service in 1969. Betty was not only co-owner in L.A.C.T. Service, but she was also the Treasurer, Secretary and Safety Coordinator, which is still in operation today.

Betty was very active in her community. She enjoyed the Toastmistress Speaking Club in the early 1970’s, being a Bobby Sox Softball team manager as well as a Trustee in the FOE club and numerous PTA organization positions. Betty was never afraid to get her hands dirty, and sometimes enjoyed working out in the oilfield with her husband Gary and helping him to plan and organize a new softball field in 1974, called Nichols/Shepard Field.

Betty is survived by her children, Douglas Shepard of Lubbock, her daughters Kristal Hamilton and husband Bob, Becky Lynskey and husband Scott, all of Hobbs, grandchildren Lori Roberson husband Doug, Kenneth Hamilton and wife Corina, Kristina Hamilton, Morgan Lynskey, Logan Lynskey, Jeremiah Shepard and wife Angela, Shyla Sinclair and husband Chris, Darian Shepard, and Regan Shepard.

Great-grandchildren Stephanie Pinon and husband Israel, Robert Martinez and Brittney, Dominique Rubio, K’mron and Josef Roberson, Brooklyn Seymour, Ruby Hamilton, Kolten, Ryan and Jarrett Sinclair, Mc Kenna Ballesteros, Myla Rasler, Bryson and Brynlee Shepard, as well as 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Shepard of Hobbs, both of her parents Lloyd and Clarice Parton and her sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Lon Williams of Mineral Wells, Texas.
