Betty Weber

September 5, 1973 — December 4, 2020

Hobbs

Betty "Lori" Weber, Forty-seven years ago, on September 5, 1973, in Artesia, NM, Betty Loryane Hensley Weber came into her parent's life: Shirley and Carl Hensley. At age 20, she married her best friend and soul mate, John A Weber. Together they had one child, who is a son, and named him Zachary A Weber. Betty was a long-devoted Christian and was a member of Crosswinds Baptist Church. She loved going to church and singing Christian songs. Also, she loved her Bible and praying for everyone that she felt needed prayers. Her favorite thing was going to church on Sunday. She was a firm believer in God. She shared her love of God with everyone she met and knew. People remember Betty (Lori) always having a positive attitude and a gigantic smile. She spent long hours at the Guidance Center of Lea County, helping the homeless people to find shelter. She also donated to the battered women shelter quite often. Also, she helped many people get into the housing when they didn't have a home for themselves and their children. She eventually went to work for the West Texas Centers as a case manager, which she dearly loved. Betty (Lori) was very committed to her job and was always looking to improve the quality of life for others. Betty had a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a certificate in business. Betty was studying for her master's in social work from Western New Mexico University. She was looking forward to getting her Masters'Masters' degree because she had a vision that she could open her own business and have a homeless shelter in Hobbs, NM. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, co-workers, and Rabbit Family as she was always going with her son to the rabbit shows in different states and having fun with him while she was doing it. She considered herself a "social butterfly" as she loved people, and everyone loved her. Alongside her late husband and son Zach, who raised rabbits, she helped found a local nonprofit known as Southwest Regional Rabbit Breeders Association. She was the Treasure of the nonprofit club. To help make it successful, you could see her selling raffle tickets and bake sales to be sure the club could have the "next" show. Whenever anyone bought anything from her, the cakes went first, especially those strawberry cakes, butter pecan cakes, and German chocolate cakes. Her peanut brittle was out of this world good. They were always the first things that were sold. She was also known for the excellent food she cooked for her family. She always enjoyed it when family and friends were eating at her house with her. Betty is presided in death by her husband John A Weber, Grandmother Lorayne Rose, Grandmother Betty Kilgore, and Grandfather Sam Kilgore. And her favorite Aunt Linda Lamkin. Betty is survived by her son Zachary A Weber, parents Carl and Shirley Hensley, sister Valerie Hernandez, and a niece Jasmine Hernandez which all live in Hobbs, NM. A niece Ashly Hernandez, Nephew Christopher Hernandez, and his wife Samantha Hernandez, Great Nephew Zaylen Hernandez, Great Niece Cheyenne Hernandez all live in Midland, Texas. Also, she is survived by many cousins. Her best friend, Shanna Loflin, and her little fur kids, Sugar, Precious, Boots, and Mowie. And all her friends that loved her. We will always miss her, but we will join her in Heaven someday.
