Carlos Chavez, Jr. was born January 29, 1978 in Del Rio, TX to Carlos Chavez, Sr. and Ana Maria Chavez and he passed away May 8, 2026 in Lubbock, TX at the age of 48.

He attended Hobbs Schools and graduated from Hobbs High School in 1996. He went on to graduate from New Mexico Junior College in 1999 and Eastern New Mexico University in 2002. After college, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Yvonne Flores. In their 23 years of marriage, they had two sons, Jesse and Dominic. He had worked at Navajo Refining Company since 2011.

Carlos had enjoyed watching and supporting his boys as they played football and wrestled. He was excited to plan vacations for the family to go on and loved being able to cook for the family. He always had home projects to complete and enjoyed teaching Yvonne and the boys how to use all of the tools. He will also be remembered for teasing his cousins and sending lots of TikToks.

Carlos loved soccer. He started playing at a young age and continued playing into adulthood along with coaching soccer teams of all ages. He had a love for soccer, but he LOVED HIS PHILADELPHIA EAGLES!

Carlos was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Apolonio and Ana Maria Barrera; paternal grandparents, Felipe and Vene Chavez; aunt, Maria Elena Soriano; and uncles, Jose Chavez, Guadalupe Chavez and Juan Terrazas.

Carlos is survived by wife, Yvonne; sons, Jesse and Dominic; parents, Carlos, Sr. and Ana Maria; and sisters, Dina (Claudio) and Veronica. He is also survived by his in-laws, Fred and Barbara Flores; brothers-in-law, Byron (Amy) and Louis Flores along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus for whoever would like to join the family.
