Carolyn Sherrill

December 23, 1943 — September 24, 2022

Hobbs

Anne “Carolyn” Glenn Sherrill crossed over to Heaven on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 7:57 am. A long-time resident of Hobbs, New Mexico, she passed away in Desert Spring Healthcare at the age of 78, following a lengthy illness.

Carolyn was born in Amarillo, Texas on December 23, 1943, to J. R. and Fanny “Floreine” McAfee Glenn. She attended school in twelve different towns growing up and graduated from Andrews High School, Andrews, Texas in 1962. She married Alvin E. Sherrill on July 29, 1963, and they enjoyed 59 years together.

Faith in Jesus Christ was a central component of Carolyn’s life. She taught Sunday School to young people and brought them on many trips, including Youth Camp. She was a member at Faith Assembly of God at the time of her death.

The second great love for Carolyn was her family. She traveled as often as she could to be with her kids and grandkids. The family enjoyed countless vacations in Cloudcroft, New Mexico.

She worked for several businesses in Hobbs in the accounting and tax preparation fields. Later in life, she developed her own business, Sherrill’s Services, doing freelance bookkeeping and tax returns.

One word to describe Carolyn above all others is “giving.” She gave freely of her time, her talent, her finances, and most importantly, her love. Family members, friends, business associates, and former youth group members testify of the impact she had on their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. R. and Floreine Glenn and her grandson-in-law, Matt Harris.

Survivors include her loving husband Alvin Sherrill of Hobbs, New Mexico; son Stuart and Sheri Sherrill of Midwest City, Oklahoma; daughter Debbie and Wade Peyton of Duncan, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren: Summer Harris, Zachary and Callie Sherrill, Cara Peyton, Alexa Peyton, Abigail Sherrill, Shepard Peyton, and Mark Sherrill; great-grandchildren Max Harris, Rhys Harris, and Clay Sherrill; brother Johnny and Kim Glenn; and sister-in-law and longtime best friend Elsie Criswell.
