Casey Rains

June 27, 1958 — December 4, 2023

Hobbs

Casey L. Rains, 65, a devoted family man and successful entrepreneur was born in Portales, NM on June 27, 1958. Casey was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Lee Howard, of Portales and Francis Clark Rains of Mineral Wells, TX; his sisters, Andrea Faye Chaves of Mineral Wells, TX; and Sharon Vancille Sutherland, of Denison, TX.

He is survived by his beloved family, his wife, Leticia Rains; his children, Chase Rains (Adrienne), Anna Casey Martin (Levi), Jenete Blanco (Samuel), Kalika Beam (Scott), Annice Rains, Bryan Nixon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Terry Rains, of Dallas, Oregon. Casey had numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews that have predeceased him and survived him and he made a lasting impact on so many of their lives.

Casey’s faith grew immensely in the recent years and he knew he’d be entering his heavenly home. Casey was fiercely protective of his family and loved his wife of 36 years beyond belief. He taught his children to enjoy every moment life has to offer and was always just a phone call away. Despite his initial reservations about traveling the world, the love and companionship he shared with his wife transformed each adventure into a cherished memory. As a professional grandpa post-retirement, Casey treasured the special bond he forged with each of his grandchildren and had a profound and enduring impact on their hearts and minds. Casey’s unwavering love for God and his family defined his life.

Leaving an indelible mark as the proud owner of Holidaze Restaurant (1993 – 2019), L&C Catering, and Taste of Italy, Casey brought people together through delicious food and warm hospitality. Casey’s passion for culinary excellence was surpassed only by his commitment to creating memorable dining experiences for his patrons. Prior to owning Holidaze, he had a long career in the restaurant business which expanded to his time at Cattle Baron where he met the love of his life.

Beyond his professional success, he was an avid hunter finding solace and connection with nature and the great outdoors. His enthusiasm for the sport was infectious and he shared countless adventures with friends and family creating lasting memories that will be cherished for generations.

Casey’s final moments were spent on a solo hunting trip surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the mountains. He talked about his hunting trip to everyone he encountered in the days and weeks before his trip. Casey loved spending time in the mountains – at their cabin in Timberon, NM – and elsewhere. The fresh air, wildlife, and serenity of the mountains were his happy place.

His shenanigans will be missed by all who loved him. Casey’s soul found eternal peace and may his love for the outdoors continue to inspire others to find happiness in the simple and breathtaking wonders of the world around us.
