Coady Tinley

May 16, 1968 — March 31, 2021

Hobbs

Coady Du Shaun Tinley of Hobbs, NM was born May 16, 1968 in Odessa, TX. He stepped through the gates of Heaven on March 31st, 2021 in Odessa, TX after a valiant fight with sepsis.

Coady attended Lovington High School where he met his beloved bride to be Gayla Oden and they were married in Hobbs, NM on July 19th, 1991. They built a wonderful life together until she and their full-term infant son Shaun Brennan Tinley were tragically taken from this life on March 4, 2004. Coady worked as a jeweler at Harold Brown’s Jewelry until he started his own jewelry business, C Bar T, in 2015. He loved his Savior Jesus Christ and served on the Board of Directors of Tabernacle of Glory church. He served in the Knowles Volunteer Fire Department from 1994 to present, with the current rank of Captain, and forged close bonds with his brothers and sisters on the fire department through their teamwork on structure fires, vehicular accidents and raging grass fires.

Coady also loved Lea County and its Western heritage and supported the Lea County Fair and Rodeo by working as a stockman, security detail, and general behind the scenes worker to help make the annual event an enjoyment for everyone.

He served as a deputized member of the Lea County Sheriff’s Posse and has sought to support our law enforcement officers and their endeavors to protect and defend the people of Lea County.

Coady was blessed to have a loving and devoted special Christian friend, Laura Manes, to cheer him on, support him in his endeavors, and share good times with him the past 15 years. He was also blessed with the loving support and encouragement of Sandra “Mom” and Raoul McPeters.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gayla Tinley and infant son Shaun Brennan, his mother Jan Stroup, grandmother Joyce Coady, and grandfather John R Coady. He is survived by his brother Kourtney Layne Stroup and wife Julie of Seminole, TX, brother Chris Tinley and wife Dana of Midland, TX, sister Lisa Tinley of Hobbs, NM, aunt, Dr. Marilyn Coady, D.C. and husband Bill Sims of Hobbs, NM, cousin John Dee Coady Sims of Hobbs, NM, nephews Chastyn Stroup and family of Carlsbad, NM and Cameron Stroup and family of Hobbs, NM, father Robert Tinley of Albuquerque, NM, great aunt Shirley Gay of Duncan, OK, great aunt and uncle Mary and Charles Aldridge of Ardmore, OK, and numerous precious cousins, father-in-law Lee Oden of Lovington, NM, sister-in-law Dawn Marquez and husband Frank of Odessa, TX and nephews Lucas and Nicolas Marquez of Odessa, TX. We are consoled by the knowledge that he is rejoicing in peace in heaven with our Lord and our loved ones.
