David “Dave” G. Herman, aged 65, of Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, after a courageous and resilient eight-year battle with cancer. His pain and suffering ended with his beautiful transition from this earth to heaven.

Dave was born on October 9, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri. Throughout his rich life, he lived and spent meaningful time in Missouri, Illinois, California, Texas, and New Mexico. He was a modest, humble, and dedicated servant to others. Even through all of the trials in his earthly journey, he fought the good fight and constantly reminded those around him of his favorite phrases: "I believe in you" and "Solamente con la ayuda de Dios, Siempre" (Only with the help of God, Always).

An avid reader with a lifelong passion for learning, Dave earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, followed by two Master's Degrees from the University of the Southwest in Hobbs. He channeled his brilliant mind and creative spirit into writing, poetry, and art. He was highly skilled in the meticulous art of calligraphy and loved sharing his passions with others, even teaching Bob Ross-inspired painting classes locally. Dave also found deep peace and inspiration in the simple wonders of life, frequently spending quiet hours admiring the vast beauty of the stars and the evening sky.

His faith was the central pillar of his life, guiding his gentle nature and his enduring commitment to serving others. In Hobbs, Dave dedicated his days to changing lives as a Life Skills Facilitator at Option Inc., where he was a strong voice and tireless advocate for those who needed a helping hand. Whether through a kind word, an artistic gift, or professional guidance, Dave’s spirit of generosity and relentless desire to assist others left an indelible mark on his community. He faced his long health battle with the same grace, strength, and quiet dignity that defined his entire life.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Mary Ann Herman, and his brothers, John and Ray.

He is survived by his beloved children, Teagan, Holly, and Kyle, and their mother, Beth Herman. He is also survived by his brother Joe and sister-in-law Sharon; his sister-in-law Lori, her spouse Brian, and their children, Rachel, Robyn; his niece Laura and her children; Mason, London and Madden his niece Janice, her spouse Jason, and their children; Emily and Alex, his brother Daniel; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and a deeply grateful community of friends, colleagues, and neighbors who will forever miss his warmth, his wisdom, and his artistic soul.
