David Mitchell

David Mitchell, 61, was born in Hobbs, NM on January 14, 1958 to Edward and Bettye Mitchell. He passed away at his home on May 7, 2019. He married Kathryn Powell on July 4, 1998.

David was a true cowboy. His love for horses was enormous and became his livelihood. At a young age he competed and showed horses. He then became a horse farrier and trainer. For 16 years he was the ranch foreman for Trent Stradley and Tom Williams at S & W Cattle Company. The last few years he has been a cross country truck driver. David was an inspiration to those he came across, always smiling and full of stories. He would give advice whether it was wanted or not.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy, his mother, Bettye, one sister; Denise D. Kane (Scott) of Hobbs, their two sons; Klint & Alyssa Kane and Tyler Kane, one step-daughter; Shannon Flowers, two grandsons; Austyn and Clatyn Kidd and a very large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father in 2003.
