Hobbs

With faith in our hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Deloris Fay Hempfling Emmons on February 19, 2024, in Hobbs, NM; she was 94 years old. 

Deloris was born on September 3rd, 1929, in Perry, Oklahoma, to Carl and Mary Tresa Hempfling, where she attended St. Joseph’s Academy and Perry High School. She married her best friend, Tommy Ivan Emmons, on Christmas day in 1947 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Throughout her life Deloris was part of many organizations, she was a faithful disciple and practicing member of St. Helena’s Catholic Church, finding strength and solace in her unwavering devotion to God. She faithfully served at the Hobbs Public Library for a number of years, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of patrons before retiring with grace and gratitude in 1988. She has said, amongst the years and roles - she enjoyed singing in the church choir the most. 

She is preceded in death by her parents (Carl and Mary), 5 siblings, 1 great-granddaughter, and husband Tommy. Devout Catholics, they leave behind a spiritual living legacy in their five children; T. Richard Emmons, married to Linda, of Buckeye, AZ, Mike E. Emmons, married to Michele, of Sapulpa, OK, Marilyn K. Sain, married to Alfred, of Rock Springs, WY, Jill A. Durham of Seguin, TX and Jacque L. Johnson, married to Randy, of Seminole, TX, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to join in prayerful remembrance. In addition, a viewing will take place at Strode Funeral Home and Deloris will be laid to rest, amongst family, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, in Stillwater Oklahoma. Time and date to be determined. 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bee Hive Homes of Hobbs for their exceptional and compassionate care and assistance.
