Donald "Don"
Board
Sep 16, 1938 — Aug 29, 2026
Donald W. Board, loving husband, outstanding father, and loyal follower of Jesus Christ, made his journey to sit at the feet of Jesus, Saturday, August 29.2026.
This was a life filled with love, laughter, family and friends.
Don was born to Ralph and Loeta Board on September 16, 1938, in their home in Hobbs, New Mexico. Don was a Hobbs Eagle through and through and never wanted to live anywhere else.
Don was best friends with his son, Tim Board of Lovington NM. One of their favorite past times was playing golf together, whenever and wherever possible. These two men had the honor of working together for many years, and the adventures they had could fill books. There was a great love and appreciation for each other.
Don also shared the love of RVing and fishing with his youngest daughter Donna Conti of Hobbs, New Mexico. Donna got the fishing lines tangled up and Don untangled them. Don caught the fish and Donna shared many hours of joy and laughter with her Dad.
Lisa Nelson of Tahoka was the first born and had the joy of growing up with Don. He was there for every life decision, whether he agreed or not, he was a never ending supporter, and he was not afraid to show love. Don was Lisa's "go to" guy on scripture and Bible lessons and in the last years they had many interesting discussions.
But without a doubt the love of his life was and remains to be, his wife of almost 7 decades Fran Board. Don and Fran provided a home filled with love and laughter, faith and discipline, and the values of Christ. Their home became a "safe" place for many a wayward family members and friends.
Don was a Sunday School teacher at Highland Baptist church for a group of boys in the 70's and 80's. These young men are now fathers and grandfathers, but they never lost touch with their teacher.
We would like to thank all of those who have shared stories and love with us this week. Kelly and Kim Brown, Bill and Edna Cummins thank you for your love.
Curtis and Nita Davidson, you have been faithful, loving friends for over 50 years. You are a part of our family and always in our hearts.
We could not possibly list all of the names of those who loved or were loved by Don. He was a friend, a husband, a father of 3, a father in law, grandfather of 10, great grandfather of 8 and great-great grandfather of 2.
If you would like to hear more of his adventures and the love he shared, we would always love to hear from you.
Rest assured that Don Board, Daddy/Pops is with his Savior celebrating and worshipping until we join him.
We all love you so Don Board
