alignjustifyBaptist Church of Hobbs on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at 3 p.m. Donny is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Anita; his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Michelle Shaw of Brooklyn, New York; his daughter, Kristen Shaw of Lubbock, Texas; his mother, Dee Chaney of Houston,Texas; his brothers and their wives, Steve and Kim Shaw of Willis, Texas, and Raine and Tausha Chaney of Hobbs; his uncles and their wives, Bill and Lu Fielder of Pearland, Texas, Jerry and Vickie Fielder of Houston, Texas; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews. Donny was preceded in death by his great-grandmothers, Helen Minx and Goldie Fielder, and his grandparents, Beryl and Bill Fielder.
alignjustifyDonny was born in Sugarland, Texas, in 1962. He was raised in Houston until he and his family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, in 1974. They moved to Hobbs in 1976 where he lived until his death. Donny and Anita Cannedy were married in 1982 and stayed in Hobbs to raise their family.
alignjustifyDonny worked at Case Tractor Sales, Continental EMSCO, CLMCO, National Oilwell Services and Phillips Petroleum Company and eventually he and Anita started Shaw Ventures Inc. in Hobbs, a construction company. He was involved with the Chamber of Commerce and Habitat for Humanity.
alignjustifyDonny loved and lived life to its fullest every day. He loved God and his family above all. His many interests included motorcycles, building, traveling, fishing, boating, playing sports and being outdoors. Donny loved to go to the lake and to the beach. He was always an eternal optimist and he never met a stranger. He was the best husband, father, son, brother and friend that a person could ask for. Cremation will take place at a later time. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
