Dorothy Gibson

Dorothy was born April 29, 1942, in Hoovertown, TX.  She relocated to Hobbs with her family as a youngster and attended Hobbs Public Schools.  She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and her adoring husband of 57 years, Pete.  Together they raised 3 children all living in Hobbs, NM:  Dee (friend Rey), Kim (husband David) and Donna (husband Larry).  She is the grandmother of 4 and great-grandmother of 7, plus a great-grandson on the way. Being one of six siblings, she has quite a large extended family.  She spent several hours on the phone each day checking in with her siblings, kids, and friends.

Dorothy has been a devoted member of Temple Baptist Church since 1964.  She loved the Lord, the church and all who worshipped there.  She met everyone with her brilliant smile and a warm hug.  She was friendly to all.  She shared her infectious laugh with anyone that could hear it.

She was a hair stylist by trade and created a shop in her home so she could be home with her kids as they grew up.  However, her true passion was being outdoors, working in her yard or their pecan orchard.  She frequently entertained a guest on the patio over a glass of tea.  She was quick-witted and funny.  She loved to laugh.

Unfortunately, her health deteriorated over the last 2 years, and she succumbed to her illness on December 29, 2021.  She will be missed by many.
