Ed Jennings was born on January 16, 1944 in Wilburton, Oklahoma to Leon and Dorothy Jennings. After a lengthy illness, Ed went home to be with the Lord on October 27, 2021.

Ed graduated from McAlester High School and attended Eastern Oklahoma State College. He was employed by Watson Truck and Supply for 36 years.

“Big Ed” was an avid fisherman all of his life and his family would love for everyone to hear his fish tales. He was a natural prankster and you knew he liked you if you fell victim to one of his pranks. He was the life of the party and he never met a stranger. Ed was an avid Oklahoma Sooner fan, and he even chose Sooner to be his cell phone password. Ed was a member of First Christian Church in Hobbs, New Mexico for 44 years. He loved to sing, dance, and smoke cigars.  The family could tell you a million stories of “Mack the Knife” by Bobby Darin.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Doris James, a son Steve Jennings, and grandsons Cole and Brady Jennings. He is survived by his wife, Linda Jennings of 57 years of Hobbs, New Mexico, a daughter Shelly Wolfe (Tom) of Hobbs, New Mexico , a son Mike Jennings of Hobbs, New Mexico, a Daughter- In- Law  Traci Jennings of Hobbs, New Mexico, Grandchildren Justin Monk of Hobbs, New Mexico, Cason Monk of Waco, Texas, Lindsey Williams, Morgan Bingham (Cole Simon) of Hobbs, New Mexico, Cameron Jennings of Boyd, Texas, Tanner Jennings of Brownwood, Texas, Ashley Jennings of Lubbock, Texas and Savannah and Troy Jennings of Hobbs, New Mexico. Great-Grandchildren Garren Thomas, Grayson Jennings and Braxton Bingham-Simon all of Hobbs, New Mexico. He also leaves behind a special Sister and Brother-In-Law Judy and Ray Payton of Levelland, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the Staff at Star Hospice. Amanda, Jennifer and Amber we greatly appreciate all the love and care that you all provided. We would also like to thank the staff of Covenant Hospital in Hobbs for the great care provided during Ed’s stay.
