Claudia Elane Gossage McIlroy passed away peacefully Friday April 12 at Lea Regional Hospital.
She was born on October 11, 1934 in Electra, Texas to Claudia and Henry Lane Gossage.
She graduated from Quanah High School, and Abilene Christian College. While at ACC she met Jim McIlroy. They were married on August 24, 1957 in Quanah, Texas. They moved to Hobbs and started their family. They lived in Hobbs for over 60 years.
Elane is survived by her daughters Margie and Melissa McIlroy, Odessa, Texas; son Marty McIlroy and wife Ann Lynn, Roswell, NM; grandsons Logan McIlroy and Vicki, Jordan McIlroy, Kameran and Mariah McIlroy all of Hobbs, NM; great grandchildren Jaden McIlroy, Mason and Kinley Gray, Kennedy and Mila McIlroy; brothers H.L. and Barbara Gossage of College Station, TX, Jay and Barbara Gossage of Tolar, TX; and aunt Deanie Smith of Beaverton, OR.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jim McIlroy, and parents, Claudia and Henry Gossage.
Mrs. McIlroy was formerly a member of the Hobbs Better Garden Club, Hobbs Literary Club, Rose Club, American Needlepoint Guild, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Elane was a Master Flower Show Judge, Past President of the NM Garden Clubs, Inc, and served on the National Council of State Garden Clubs. She was a longtime member of Taylor Street Church of Christ.
