Eunice Kelly

Eunice was born in Riceville, Iowa on July 20, 1918 to Elizabeth & Henry Weber, the youngest of seven children. She went to be with Our Lord at 102 years old, on December 10, 2020. She graduated from Riceville High School in 1936. Afterwards, she taught a semester of Country School outside of Riceville. She spent a few years of service at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, after which she moved to Chicago, IL. While in Chicago, she attended fashion school and afterwards, she spent several years of sales service at Marshall Field Department Store. From there, she became a weather map plotter for the U.S. Weather Bureau where she remained until her beloved, Paul Kelly returned from servicing in World War II. They married in January 1945 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Chicago, IL. They moved to Texas and spent a year in Odessa, TX. After ministering out of Military Service in El Paso, TX, Paul began a career in the oil field service in Hobbs, NM. They were blessed with 4 sons,
Kevin, Earl, Clark, and Jean; and one daughter Paula.
Eunice was a charter member of the St. Helena’s Alter Society and of St. Helena’s parochial school vocation. She spent 21 years as a teller at what is now Lea County State Bank. She was a member of Lea County Oil Wives. She took much pleasure in playing bridge and the daily crossword puzzle in the Hobbs News-Sun.
Eunice is preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Henry Weber, husband Paul Kelly, daughter Paula Hargrove, and son Jean Kelly. She is survived by her sons Kevin Kelly and wife Kathy of Hobbs, NM; Earl Kelly and wife Katherine of San Antonio, TX; Clark Kelly of Liberty, MO; Grandchildren Erin Smith and husband Mikey of Hobbs, NM; Michael Kelly of Hobbs, NM; Kristin Ward and husband Brandon of Greenlee, Co; Page Freitag and husband Alex of San Antonio, TX; James Kelly and wife Beth of San Antonio, TX; April Mallon and husband Blaine of Austin, TX; Alyssa Kelly of Austin, TX; Keri Hargrove of San Angelo, TX; Jody Hargrove and wife Jessica of Lubbock, TX; Joshua Kelly of Hobbs, NM; Great Grandchildren Aidan and Teren Smith of Hobbs, NM; Keatyn, Jacoby, and Barrett Ward of Greenlee, CO; Reagan and Ryann Freitag of San Antonio, TX; Lucy, Madison, Jack, and Baily Kelly of San Antonio
TX; Jayce Hargrove of Lubbock, TX; and Great-
Great Grandchild Kyreigh Carney of Hobbs, NM.
