Frances Youngblood

November 4, 1931 — January 19, 2019

Frances was born November 4,1931 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Roy and Vera (Massengill) Ham and passed away on January 19, 2019 in Hobbs, N.M. She and her family moved to Tatum, NM when she was little and that is where she grew up. She graduated high school there and met the love of her life Oley Youngblood whom she married on June 1, 1950 at First Baptist Church in Tatum. They soon moved to Lubbock Texas where she went to work at Scoggin Dickey Buick in the accounting department. During this time, she became a member of Southcrest Baptist Church where she was the organist for 16 years. After several years of being in Lubbock she decided to go to cosmetology school and became a hairdresser. She worked in that profession until she became pregnant with her only child in 1961. Shortly after the birth of her son she resumed working and continued even after they moved to Morton, TX in 1965 where she also helped her husband on the farm they owned. The family moved back to Lubbock in 1971 and she continued her career. In 1978 the family moved to Hobbs, NM to open O & S Quick Change. She lived in Hobbs and was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church until her death. She loved her family with all that she was. Once she had grandkids, all she wanted to do was spoil them rotten. She was an excellent artist with several amazing paintings and just loved to paint. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and was a master seamstress. She made numerous dresses and outfits for her only granddaughter. Her and Oley were married for 57 wonderful years. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, her grandson-in-law Cheyenne Norris and a younger sister Barbara Jean Hickey. Surviving her is her only son Scot and wife Patricia of Hobbs, three grandchildren, Scot Aric Youngblood of Hobbs, Nathaniel Youngblood and fiancé Lezlie Varner of Hobbs, Adrienne Norris and fiancé Chase Rains of Hobbs, 4 great-grandchildren, Hayley, Elizabeth, William and Austin, a sister Coletta Love of Tularosa, NM, a brother Leon Ham and wife Teresa also of Tularosa, NM, brother-in-law, John Youngblood and wife JoAnn of Midland, TX and numerous nephews, nieces and their children and grandchildren.
