Frank Harmon “Red” Hann, born April 25, 1931, passed to his eternal home September 10, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas, where he had been a resident of the Texas VA Home since 2023.
Red lived a remarkable and colorful life, embracing careers and adventures that reflected his creativity, courage, and deep love of the American West. He was an artist, stuntman, actor, event producer, and former radio host. Throughout his life, he found ways to turn his passions into experiences that brought people together.
Hann served in the U. S. Air Force, where he frequently traveled to various sites to produce artwork. He was a past member of the Lea County Sheriff’s Posse, and he hosted, produced, and participated in numerous Pony Express rides and trail rides in Lea County and beyond, helping keep Western history alive for new generations. Among his most memorable projects was organizing the Pony Express ride from Hobbs to Santa Fe in celebration of New Mexico’s centennial. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his creativity, his love of animals and of Western heritage, and the many lives he touched along the way.
Red is survived by his sister, Linda, daughter Sandy, son Jesse, son Wesley, five grandchildren, three nieces, two nephews, and numerous extended family members. Among those who survive him are his grandson, Connor, and the four siblings who became part of Red's extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jewel Hann of Hobbs, sister Jolene Humble, brother Zoy Hann, and spouse Patti (Bassett) Hann. He was also preceded in death by former spouse Patricia Thompson who passed in 2020 and spouse Marna Burrows Hann, who passed away in 1960.
A memorial service is scheduled for November 9 at 10 a.m. at Chapel of Hope in Hobbs, New Mexico.
