Gary D. Latimer, 76, of Lubbock, Texas, and formerly Hobbs, New Mexico, passed to his eternal home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. He was born in Ada, Oklahoma on November 25, 1945.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Marion and Ruth Latimer, brother, Ronnie Latimer, and great granddaughter, Emma Latimer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nelda “Jo” Latimer, his son, Joe Don Latimer and wife, Kim, grandchildren: Josh Latimer and wife, Maren, and MacKenzie Latimer and fiancé, Chance Carr, great grandchildren: Jaden, Morgan, Karter, and Everly, with additions coming soon.
Gary was a successful business man starting out at a young age selling Spudnuts and delivering the newspaper. He began Latimer Auto Sales in the early 70s retiring after 37 years. He set a standard of good practices for others to strive to follow. Gary was also the ultimate story teller. He had a vivid memory, loved numbers, and always enjoyed a joke to get a laugh. He never met a stranger so he loved sharing his life stories with everyone! Gary was a great cook and a fantastic fudge maker! He loved taking his fudge to others. He loved to travel, attend concerts, and playing wahoo with family and friends.
Gary was best known to his family as “Big Papa” and he loved his family very much. He is already greatly missed and will always be dear to our hearts.
