Jerry AKA “Nannie” and “Miss Jerry” passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Jerry was born in Wynnewood, Oklahoma on February 07, 1936, to Jack and Mildred Jones but was raised by her loving stepdad, John Wayne Thompson.
Jerry married Jim Babb in 1952 and together they had three children, Terry Babb (Kathy), Waynett Lester (George), and Kibby Babb (Janell). They married in Plainview, Texas then moved to Midland, Texas and in 1963 they moved to Hobbs, NM. Jim owned AAA Glass and Mirror and she was a stay-at-home Mom before working for GTE.
As a family they enjoyed the lake, whether it was fishing, watersports, or just a lazy day at the lake. Jerry taught her kids, their friends, and nieces and nephews how to water ski.
She was known for her patience in the water with new skiers and she was pretty good on the skies herself. They enjoyed hunting deer and just traveling with their good friends Don and Mary Lester.
Jim passed away in 1979 from a year-long battle with cancer. In the 1980’s she married Jerry Brothers and gained two more sons, Mike Brothers and Brad Brothers (Desiree), which she loved dearly. Together they built a life off of all the lake activities and traveling with their motor home family. At their rallies she was known as the perfect hostess and was very competitive in the game of Cribbage. She had quite a few first-place trophies. They traveled all over the country together. She loved to travel but always needed a home base.
She could usually be away for about 2 months before home was calling her due to missing family.
When her health started to decline, they sold the motor home and Mr. Jerry settled into being her caregiver until his death in December 2025.
She loved housing all the holidays at her house and she loved nothing better than a house full of kids, young and old.
To know her was to love her. She was the best Mom and Nannie that anyone could ever ask for.
She is survived by her children, her grandchildren, Tim Babb (Karah), Kirby Babb, Eric Lester (Lucille), Tausha Chaney (Raine), Koby Babb (Sheila), Kacey Colbert (Mike), Kortni Babb, Brandon Brothers, M T Brothers, Micah Brothers (Parker), Payton Brothers and Brody Brothers, 19 great-grandchildren, and 9 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Jim Babb and Jerry Brothers, and her Sister Betty Rodgers.
The family would like to sincerely thank her caregivers: Peggy Stevenson, Jackie Brotherton and Paula Davenport, whom she loved and was loved back. Also, thanks to the whole crew at Gentiva Hospice, especially Pat Boiler, her hospice nurse from the very beginning, who took perfect care of her.
She loved fresh flowers. On her 90th birthday her living room looked and smelled like a floral shop and she loved it.
