Glenda Rochelle Long Chandler was born to Avis Lee Wright Long and Terry Blanchard Long in Houston, Texas on February 28, 1938. She met Don Marvin Chandler while attending Junior High and then married him on December 19th, 1957, in Baytown, Texas. After spending her first 40 years mostly in the Houston area, she moved with her family to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1978. Glenda left her address in Hobbs to her new address in heaven on June 09, 2022.
Glenda will always be remembered for her “million-dollar smile” that the family will forever cherish. She was kind and gentle, sweet, and quiet, unless she was cheering on her kids during a sporting event. Devoted and strong, a simple look would always reveal what she was thinking. No one could out do her love for all things Christmas.
Glenda spent her life devoted to her family, but also held jobs as a teacher, church secretary, and completed her career in nursing as an LPN. Don and Glenda spent almost 65 years together, not only as a couple, but as best friends. Together they established a strong family that grew with the birth of three daughters, Donna Sharp (Mark Sharp), Cathy Robinson (Kevin Robinson) and Tracy South (Seborn South). Later on, the family expanded to include five grandchildren - Summer and Drew Rickman, Tyler Robinson, Allie Sharp, Scott and Annie Sharp, and Colton and Alisha South, along with four great- grandchildren Sadie Layne and Sydney Caroline Robinson, River Jamison Rickman, and Olivia Evelyn Sharp.
Glenda was greeted in heaven by her parents, her beloved sister Sue Tiller, her nephew Todd Tiller, and her mother-in-law Belle Davis.
Left to carry her legacy of strength are husband Don Chandler, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Judy Habermehl and Mike Habermehl, daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Mark Sharp, Cathy and Kevin Robinson, and Tracy and Seborn South. She also leaves her niece, Terilyn Stacy, and nephews Eric and Carl Michael Habermehl.
