Graciela "Gracie" López, 82, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026, in Hobbs, NM. She was born March 31, 1943, in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. She married Victor Lopez Sr on October 7, 1958.
Gracie was an active member of St. Helena Catholic Church and loved going to the Senior Center to exercise and hangout with her friends. She had a heart big enough for everyone. Her home was always open, meals always filling, and advice given with love.
She was a woman whose life was defined by love, strength, and an unwavering devotion to her family. A proud mother of eight boys, she dedicated her to raising strong, kind-hearted men, always leading by example with faith, resilience, and compassion.
Her greatest joy, however, was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her true happiness; nothing brought a brighter smile to her face. She treasured every visit, every hug, every story told around the kitchen table. She was more than just a grandma to them- she was Grandma Chela and that name meant wisdom, strength, and unconditional love.
Her legacy will live on through her sons, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as the heart of her family-a woman whose love knew no boundaries.
She was preceded in death by her husband Victor M Lopez Sr., son Jose Raul Lopez, Mother Lucia Villalobos, and brothers Hector Gonzalez and Jose Luis Jimenez.
She is survived by 7 sons, Victor Jr (Cora) of Odessa, TX, Ignacio "Rick" (Vanessa) of San Antonio, TX, Ramon (Terri) of San Antonio, TX, Danny of Largo, FL, Eddie of Hobbs, NM, Rene (Amy) of New Port Richey, FL, and Jorge (Cricket) of Hobbs, NM. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild. Lastly, Gracie is survived by two sisters, Maria of Hobbs, NM and Virginia De Hoyas of Puebla, Mexico; and one brother Mario (Casey) of Mesa, AZ.
