Gregory Dean Grayson-Pyeatt

February 17, 1967 — April 12, 2025

Hobbs

Gregory Dean Grayson-Pyeatt, 58, of Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away of natural causes on April 12, 2025.

Greg was born on February 17, 1967, in El Paso, Texas. He spent much of his life working in the oilfield, specializing in the computer systems that helped keep rigs running. His talent for working with his hands was unmatched—he could fix nearly anything and had a special love for rebuilding cars.

Greg was a quiet, simple man—smart, skilled, and always ready with a good laugh. He found peace in the outdoors, especially the mountains and the woods, and had a deep love for all wildlife—especially his beloved dogs, McGruff, Baker, and Jackie.

He is survived by his two sons, Gregory Grayson Jr. of West Virginia and Dillon Baucam of East Texas; his parents, Larry & Andrea Massengill of Hobbs, NM, and Mike & Judy Pyeatt of Bogue Chitto, MS; and his siblings: Stacy & Mark Munro of Hobbs, NM; Jason & Britney Massengill of Pueblo, CO; Melissa Garza of Houston, TX; Nathaniel Massengill of Hobbs, NM; Mikey & Dana Pyeatt of Bogue Chitto, MS; and Benji & Ellen Pyeatt of Bogue Chitto, MS. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents: Kenneth “Dunk” & Jean Pullium, Edgar “Hardy” Grayson, James & Ruth Young, Kenneth & Jean Pyeatt, and his brother, Billy Pyeatt.

Greg will be remembered for his kind heart, clever hands, sense of humor, and deep love for the wild world and those he loved most.
