A graveside service for Harmon Chuck Henson, 82, of Hobbs, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Prairie Haven Cemetery. Chaplain Elio Barrios will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 8 a.m.6 p.m. and Thursday 8 a.m.8:30 a.m. at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
Henson died Sept. 1, 2012, at Hobbs Health Care. He was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Prague, Okla. He married Carmen Henson on Jan. 22, 1954, in Hobbs. They were married for 58 years. His wife died April 11, 2012.
He served four years in the U.S. Navy. He was in the Korean War. He was 9 years old when he moved to Hobbs. He worked for Phillips Petroleum and retired after 35 years. He started at the bottom of his job and worked his way up. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed working on cars and building trailers.
He was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter Lori Scarbrough and husband Mike of Hobbs grandson Michael Scarbrough and wife Kindra of Caney, Okla. two greatgranddaughters, Alexis and Kalee Scarbrough of Caney, Okla. aunt Molly Dunaway of Tulsa, Okla. and brotherinlaw Ray Butler of Florida.
Preceding in him in death were his parents Ralph and Velma Henson, wife Carmen Henson and 18monthold baby sister JoAnn Henson.
