Harold “Marx” Dyer, 84, was born on December 8, 1934 in Bokchito, Oklahoma to JW and Maureen Dyer and passed peacefully at home on October 30, 2019.

Marx was raised in Hobbs, NM from the age of 12 and graduated from Hobbs High School in 1953, where he was a two-time state Golden Gove boxing champion. Marx married Deanna Walton on June 5, 1954. Marx and Deanna were married 59 years until the time of her passing. Marx spent 43 years employed by Walton Construction one of the first pipeline and dirt construction companies in Hobbs. He started as a laborer moving on to welding and equipment operator, to eventually co-owner with his wife and brother in law David Walton, until his retirement in 1996.  Marx was well known as a man of few words, a strong grip, and a dedicated Hobbs resident.

Marx was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and his wife. Marx is survived by his five children, Steve of Ruidoso, NM, Tim (Janie) of Midland, TX, Cristie of Lubbock, Jeff of Hobbs, Randy of Highlands Ranch, CO. as well as nine grand children, Jason, Linsey, Allison, Jordan, Lauren, Josh, Kenidi, Averi, and Lili. Thirteen great-grandchildren and one brother Barry Dyer of Midland, TX.
