Ruth Gray, 101, of Hobbs NM, also known as Gran-Gran by all her grandchildren, passed away peacefully in her home on March 11, 2024. She was born February 6, 1923, in Albuquerque, NM, the daughter of James and Thresa Casson who preceded her in death. She moved to Hobbs with her family in the early 1950’s and resided there for the rest of her life. She worked many years as a cashier with the last 15 or more at Albertsons in Hobbs. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to numerous children. She never met a stranger and loved animals, country music, dancing, and spending time with her family. She was also preceded in death by sons Larrey Gray and Bobby Gray, both of Hobbs, and grandsons Josh Wilson of Hobbs and Shawn Wilson of Houston, Tx. Ruth is survived by her daughter Connye Spurlock of Hobbs, NM, son Jerry Gray and wife Sue of Lubbock, Tx, son Donnie Gray of Hobbs, NM, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thank you to her granddaughters, Kerri Gray and Mikal Calhoun, who were there for support and love during her last few challenging and declining years.
