Obituary

Jasmine Korene Lara (June 19, 1987 – June 7, 2026), born in Hobbs, New Mexico, was a brilliant light, a gifted artist, and a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. As the firstborn child of Vincent Lara Jr. and Kimberly Lara-Hanks, and her deeply loved nieces and nephews: Laguna, Buckley, Amaya, Isabella, and Marley. Jasmine naturally stepped into a role of leadership, serving as a fierce, protective anchor for her family, including her sisters Jacqueline Koal Lara, and Jewleitt Alexander (husband Chase). Jasmine was a woman of profound talent and vision. A skilled photographer and artist, she had a rare gift for capturing the beauty of the world. Driven by a deep desire to fight for the voiceless and reshape the justice system, she also dedicated five years of hard work to law school. Above all, Jasmine’s greatest joy was her daughter, Ilyana Faye Rhodes, to whom she dedicated every ounce of her strength. Remembered for her unbreakable spirit, unconditional love, and a radiant smile that warmed every room, Jasmine leaves behind a legacy of strength and grace that lives on through her. Remembered for her unbreakable spirit, unconditional love, and a radiant smile that warmed every room, Jasmine will be deeply missed by her friends, numerous aunts and uncles, including her aunt Kay Willett, and her uncle Kevin Ousley.
