Funeral services for Jasper Breckenridge Smith, Jr., will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Chapel of Hope with Pastor David Matkins officiating. Visitation will be 1 6 p.m. at Chapel of Hope Wednesday. J. B. died January 29, 2013, in Lubbock, TX. He was born March 19, 1929, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Jasper Breckenridge and Gertie Smith, Sr. He was a member of the Fellowship of Believers.
J. B. moved to Hobbs in 1959 and went to work for El Paso Natural Gas Co. in the maintenance department. After several years he worked at Climax Chemical as a plant operator. He then worked for Amerada Hess, retiring after 15 years. He worked at Enterprise RentaCar until his death. J. B. collected coins, knives, and enjoyed going to blue grass festivals in their travel trailer.
Surviving J. B. is his wife, Delores Smith of Hobbs son, Randy Smith, and wife Sherry, of Hobbs two daughters, Martha Lynn Couch of Van Buren, AR, and Delilah Lee of Pensacola, FL two brothers, Herman Smith of Park Springs, TX, and Gerald Smith of Hobbs grandchildren, Cameron and Shawn Smith of Hobbs, Gary and Scott Jordan of Bowie, TX, Jamie and Candy Couch and Jennifer Schultz all of Van Buren, AR, Rovanna Presley, and husband Jim, of Levelland, TX, and David and Mark Pinson of OK numerous greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceding J. B. were his parents, Jasper and Gertie Smith grandson, Troy Smith granddaughter, Andrea Lynnet Smith and brother Chester Smith.
