Jerry Bonds

Jerry Frank Bonds, 85, died in his home on May 6, 2021.  He was born January 6, 1936 in Elk City, Oklahoma, the son of Franklin Albert Bonds and Aliff Marie (Hall) Bonds.

Jerry graduated from Hobbs High in 1955, and joined the Navy in October 1955, and was discharged in 1959.  Upon his return he went to Texas Tech University, and played football for Texas Tech, he was one of the first players to play for Texas Tech.  After Graduation Jerry returned to Hobbs and started a family and worked in various oilfield companies throughout his career.  In addition to being a naval pilot, Jerry flew for X-pert Well Service & Todd Aircraft.

Jerry married Iris (Crawford) Bonds on December 14, 2002 at Vista Point Baptist Church.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Aliff, and infant son, Franklin Leon Bonds, and his brother Dean Bonds.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 18 years, Iris Bonds, his son and wife, Eric & Begie Bonds of Hobbs; his sister and her husband Billy & Sandra Bales of Fredericksburg, TX; his daughter, Susan Hambright of Austin, TX, and his daughter Judy Kay Dean of Kansas City MO;  his stepchildren, Bobby & Kay Goad of Hobbs, Richard & Jodie Goad of Flower Mound, TX; Douglas & Amy Goad of San Antonio, TX and Kendall & Nancy Goad of Hobbs, NM; his sisters-in-law, Sylvia Foster & Cecile Nichols, his brother-in-law, James and his wife, Sammye Crawford.   He is survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, his dog Zorro and many grand-furbabies.
