Jimmie Rae Gordon Sr. of Hobbs gained his wings and passed over to Heaven on Wednesday January 19, 2022, at his home, at the age of 87. Jimmie was born on January 5, 1935, in Leesville Louisiana to James Freeman and Louise Gordon. In his younger years he was a fireman in Leesville Louisiana. In 1978 he heard rumor of Black Gold, the oil boom in New Mexico. A few days later he packed up and moved his family to Hobbs where he started working in the oilfields. After many years of working in the oilfield he retired. Later, after being bored of sitting home, he went to work for Zia Park Casino, where he was security for eight years. He loved his Job at the Casino, he loved driving the golf cart and giving his friends a ride from their car to the casino front door. Jimmie never met a stranger. He always had a joke at every corner. He enjoyed the casino and after final retirement, he could be heard saying “lets go to the casino”! In his final days, no matter how difficult it was, Matthew his son-in-law, Dominic his grandson, Dante his adopted grandson and Dr. Mukesh Patel could always make him smile. He was easy going and loved his family beyond measure. He never said a bad word about anyone. He was a kindhearted man who had great faith and loved his lord. Jimmie is survived by his wife Gloria Letcher of the home, three sons; Jimmie Rae Jr. (Matthew), James Gordon and Joe Gordon. Six daughters; Linda Knighton, Cloe Clark (Ed), Jennifer Delrie (Tommy), Bessie Gorden, Terri Gorden, and Jeanette Gorden. three sisters; Sadie Stermer, Rose Perkins and Deniece Holton, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a wife; Carol Jeanette Gordon, two grandsons; Drew Allen Gordon and Lance Gorden, a daughter Patricia Gorden, two sons; Marvin Gorden Jr. and Clarence Gorden. Three brothers; Elmond Gordon, Rocky Gordon and Darvis Gordon and three sisters; Joyce Faulkner, Elizabeth Philyaw and Brenda Firesheets.
