Josephine "Josie" Aranda

On February 9, 2024 Josephine Aranda (Josie Ortiz) took her last breath on this earth to take her first breath in heaven. 

Josie was born on September 23, 1944 in Portales, NM to Andres and Emilia Ortiz. Josie had been a resident of Hobbs for the past 45 years. Josie’s greatest treasure was being a Mom to her three children and her two fur babies, Chiquita and Chico. One of Josie’s favorite things she loved to do was visit south Texas every year. She really looked forward to that three-month vacation. She loved nurturing her plants and watching her rose bushes in bloom. If you visited Josie she would make sure you knew which rose bushes were recently planted and their color. One of Josie’s favorite past times was sitting on her porch watching the hummingbirds. She loved great conversations (especially gossip) and she enjoyed dancing. 

Survivors are Don Herrera (Spouse) Sons Tommy Aranda (Yolanda), Mark Aranda (Terri), Daughter Emily Aranda-Dominguez (Jesse). 

 Bonus children Corina Gonzales (Will), Nena Gracia (John), Dimas Herrera (Misti), Ismael (Bear) Herrera (Robin).  

 Grandchildren Crystal Aranda-Alvidrez (Edgar), TJ Aranda, Markus and Mykel Aranda, Donavin (D.D) and Mya Dominguez, Dominique Pierson (Travis) and lots of bonus grandchildren. Great-grandchildren Luka Alvidrez, Baby girl Aranda due in July, Jayvian and Jaxtyn Pierson and lots of bonus great-grandchildren.Sisters Nora Aranda and Lorraine Meza, Brother John Ortiz. Several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Josie was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Da’Veah Dominguez, Zachary, Felicita (Fela) and Anthony Herrera.
