Juan "Johnny" Tarin

Johnny Tarin passed away on Sunday, April 21st, 2024, at the age of 74. He was born in Imperial, TX on October 17, 1949, to Sacarias Tarin and Juanita Acosta Tarin. Johnny was raised in Lovington, NM and attended Lovington Schools, his family moved to Hobbs during his junior year, graduating from Hobbs High School in 1968.

Johnny married Elena Marroquin in 1968, and they had three children: Hector (Tammy) Tarin, Edwin (Angela) Tarin both of Midland, TX and Becky Turner of Lubbock, TX.

Most of Johnny's career was spent in the oil and gas industry, working in different capacities. He retired from OXY Petroleum in 1999, and from Texland Petroleum in 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a great grandson, Aiden Bernal.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 56 years, and his three children. Eight grandchildren: Brittany (Stewart) Aaron, Courtney (Fernie) Bernal, Zachary (Alicia) Tarin, Justus (Brady) Roper, all of Midland, TX; Jillian Tarin and her fiancé Cade Luebke of Ft. Worth, TX, Troy (Lili) Turner of Odessa, TX, Hunter Turner of Ft. Carson, CO and Madison Turner of Lubbock, TX. Eight great grandchildren: Ferne Bernal, Kaleb Bernal, Addison Bernal, Jayden Bernal, Eliana Tarin, Camden Roper, A.J. Marquez and Nylah Marquez. Also surviving him is his brother Louis (Linda) Tarin, and his sister Susie Hernandez, both of Hobbs, NM, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Honoring Johnny's wishes, a Celebration of Life, will be held at a later date.
