Latannia Klipstine

August 1, 1954 — June 1, 2018

LaTannia J. Klipstine, age 63, passed away after a life well lived on Friday, June 1, 2018 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX.
She was born on August 1, 1954 in Sacramento, CA and was the only daughter of Vernon and Margaret Pembrook. She was a self-identified Army brat who was raised with five brothers, all of which helped her develop the fiery, funny, tenacious, and deeply loving personality she was known for. Some of her fondest childhood family memories were of Vincenza, Italy, Frankfurt, Germany, and Ft. Huachuca, AZ.
She graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1972 and later attended New Mexico State University. During her time in Las Cruces, she met her husband and best friend, Jim Klipstine. They were married there at Our Lady of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church on December 21, 1974. For 44 years, they supported and championed each other in this life through all things, big and small. Together they built a wonderful life for their sons.
To Tannie, love was an action, not a word. Family always came first, and each day started and ended with them. She was quick to help those in need, getting involved where others wouldn't and finding a way when there wasn't one. She did all of this with a sense of humor that was only rivaled by her sense of right.
Her passion for helping extended to her furry four-legged friends of all kinds. She was an absolute animal lover (just don't mention snakes.....) who worked tirelessly to heal and find forever homes for pets that needed them the most. This passion led her to serve and hold several offices with the Lea County Humane Society for quite some time. She also loved photography, a night at the blackjack table, a cold glass of iced tea, and was always ready for a business negotiation.
She had a strong and enduring faith in God and had personally witnessed an astounding family miracle. She left this world armed with that faith and surrounded by the love of the family to whom she gave and loved so much.
Tannie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James W. Klipstine Jr. of Hobbs, NM, her son Matthew (Jenna) Klipstine of Roswell, NM, her son Christopher Klipstine of Anchorage, AK, her brother Charles (Suzanne) Pembrook of Sierra Vista, AZ, and her brother Theodore J. (Kat) Pembrook of Chandler, AZ. She will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
