Lisa “Gigi” Kemp passed away peacefully in her home on December 7th, 2025. She was born on April 13th, 1965, in Hobbs.
Lisa was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt whose endless spirit and kind heartedness touched so many. She had such a contagious smile and caring nature, that one couldn’t help but love her. Lisa was so passionate about books and the library. She started at a young age working part time at the Hobbs Public Library. Throughout the years, Lisa graced the libraries of New Mexico Junior College, once again the Hobbs Public Library, then finishing her career with the Hobbs Municipal School District as the Elementary Library Coordinator. Over the last twenty years, she loved coordinating criteria, ordering, and boxing up textbooks for all elementary libraries of Hobbs. She loved kids reading and learning, and one would hear her wrath, if anyone ever “dog-eared” a page in any book! She would gladly hand out bookmarks to those that needed to mark a page.
Even though her passion was the library, Lisa’s true love was her family. She was the caretaker of our family; her kids and grandkids were the highlight of her life and she will be deeply missed by all. Lisa was a woman with tremendous faith in our Lord and always believed that God had a plan for everything in life. The Lord allowed her to pass without pain and enter into a much greater and glorious life with our savior.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents M.T and Zenna Cox. She is survived by her husband of the home Jim; daughter, Tausha Creed and husband Lonnie and their children Cannon, Keeli and Kyler; son, Sawyer Kemp and wife Allyson and their children Braxton and Brady; sister Carla Hedrick and significant other Cecil Castle; and many nephews and nieces.
