Lloyd Chenault

August 9, 1947 — May 24, 2019

Lloyd Wayne "Spade" Chenault was born on August 9, 1947 in Brownfield, Texas to Lloyd and Christine Chenault. He entered into eternal rest on May 24, 2019 in Hobbs, New Mexico.

In 1963 Lloyd's family moved to Hobbs, where he spent most of his life. He graduated from Hobbs High School in 1965 followed by a short time in college in Canyon Texas. Lloyd served in the National Guard and then came home to work at Hobbs Boot Shop and later found a lifelong career in oilfield management with Smith Energy Services, Western Company and Hobbs Rental. He was a sports enthusiast and could calculate a point spread in baseball, basketball and above all, for his beloved Broncos in football. In his younger years he enjoyed playing golf and loved playing baseball. He was an avid bowler. He could play a mean game of shuffleboard, cards and if the situation called for it, dominoes. He loved to BBQ, a good pot of red beans and Jalapeño corn bread. He loved his family, especially his grandkids, and had many lifelong best friends.

Those who knew him, knew him well. Lloyd was a people person and wherever there was fun, he was sure to be found. He played hard but always worked harder. He had three great loves in his life: Hobbs Rental, Cher and his purple convertible mustang. Not necessarily in that order but always with Hobbs Rental at the top. Hobbs Rental was his life work, the single best representation of who he was and where his dedication and loyalty lie. It was his passion and he knew the valve business as a specialist in his field.

Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

He is survived by two brothers, Billy Chenault and wife Keitha, and James Chenault. Two daughters Brandi Brister and husband Robert, and Dinah Tinnell and husband Ray. He had a niece, Ashley Chenault and three nephews Landon Chenault, Brandon Chenault, and Jason Chenault. He had six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Lloyd was the most caring and devoted person to everything and everyone he loved and he will be greatly missed.
