Funeral services for Joe Pryer, 85, of Hobbs will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Taylor Church of Christ with burial following at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visittation will be on Tuesday from 46 p.m. with the family and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until noon. Pryer died Sept. 1, 2012, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born on Feb. 22, 1927, in Lubbock, Texas. He married Gloria E. Beth Blachshear on May 9,1947.
Joe worked for Keebler Cookie Co. for 36 years. He was a member of Taylor St. Church of Christ for than 50 years. He was one of 14 children.
Joes love was passing bulletins at his church and the children that helped him look after his cane on Sunday mornings. He enjoyed coffee with his church guys and breakfast on Saturday morning with his sons. He will greatly be missed at the south church door, passing out the bulletins.
Joe served his country in World War II. He was stationed in China. He enjoyed woodworking. He was active in Little League baseball with his boys and helped build Bensing Ball Park.
He is survived by his sons, Dwight Pryer and Anita, of Hobbs Ronnie and wife, Kathleen, of Hobbs and Glen Alan Pryer and Jackie, of Hobbs by 11 grandchildren, a daughterinlaw, Terry Pryer of Lubbock, by greatgrandchildren and a sister.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Beth a son, Mark Pryer and by five brothers and sisters.
