Manuel Romero Chacon Sr. was born June 18th, 1934, on Rancho De Zubia in Chihuahua Mexico. Manuel was married to Francisca Chacon December 4th, 1962, in Carlsbad New Mexico. Together they celebrated 61 amazing years of marriage and had four children.
For 30 years Manuel worked on the railroad with Union Pacific in New Mexico and Texas, until he ultimately retired in 2001. After retirement Manuel spent his time on Rancho Viejo taking care of livestock, tending to his garden, and spending time with his family. On Rancho Viejo, Manuel would take care of goats, pigs, and a cow, constantly reminiscing on Rancho De Los Perez (his ranch in Mexico.) Manuel loved to grow vegetables, especially jalapenos, there was never a meal without one. Manuel never missed a chance to go to the Texas state line and buy lottery tickets, go to McDonalds for an ice cream cone, or watch black and white Westerns.
Surviving Manuel, his four children Frances Jeffrey of Midland, TX. Soledad, Fidencio, and Manuel Jr. (Manny) of Hobbs, NM. His five grandchildren Andrew and Bayli Chacon of Hobbs, NM. Phillip Chacon of San Angelo, TX, Jacob Chacon of Cincinnati, OH, and KC Jeffrey of Killeen, TX. His eight great-grand children Mason, Sophie, Audrie, Zechariah of Hobbs, NM. Ezra, Riley, Philip, and Raya of San Angelo, TX. His brothers Jesus Chacon of Juarez, Mexico and Ramon Chacon of Sante Fe, NM. Preceding him in death is the love of his life Francisca Chacon. His parents Socorro and Soledad Chacon. His brothers Jose, Rodolfo, Rafael Chacon, and his sister Lola Carrillo.
A special thank you to all those that helped Manuel. Including Starcare, hospice nurses, caregivers and staff at The Beehive in Hobbs, NM and Southwest wound care in Lubbock, TX.
