Mariethel McConal

Mariethel McConal, age 91, of Hobbs, NM passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on November 29, 1933, in Brownfield, TX to Thomas and Clarene Hunt.

Mariethel was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to caring for those around her with quiet strength and unwavering love. Her home was always a place of warmth and welcome, where she took great pride in her role as a homemaker. She found joy in the simple things—sewing, sharing meals with loved ones, caring for her many grandchildren, and living her faith through service to her church community. Her gentle spirit, strong values, and nurturing heart leave a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Mariethel was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Garland, of 71 years, both of her parents, her siblings, Rocile McConal, Sid Hunt, Glen Hunt, Martha Burnett, Tommy Hunt, and son-in-law, David Lugar.

She is survived by her children; Bobby McConal and wife Regina of Kerrville, TX, Lajan Lugar of Horseshoe Bay, TX, Juanett Hindi and husband Rached of Midland, TX, Danny McConal and wife Angela of Hobbs, and Angie McConal of Lubbock, TX; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great- grandchildren; sister, Quay Roberts and husband Larry of Eastland, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
