Mario Sergio Garcia went to meet his Lord & Savior on May 16, 2024, in an Amarillo hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mario was born on January 17, 1974, to Martin & Petra Garcia in Artesia, NM. Mario was well known for his size during birth being that he weighed almost 13 pounds. He lived in Hagerman, NM during his childhood and early adult life. He attended school in Hagerman from kindergarten through high school, graduating in 1992. He played football all through school and was on the State Championship football team in 1991. He was on the all-state teams multiple years and went on to play college football for a year at NMMI in Roswell. He stepped out to work in the oilfield for Willbanks Trucking.
Mario moved to Hobbs NM in 2004. He met the loves of his life--Chyree Miller and her son Jaden Miller in 2006. Mario and Chyree went on to have a daughter, Jaci London Miller, in 2009. The two were married on September 7, 2011. Mario loved his job at Pharis Radiator, where he made many life-long friends.
Mario loved playing softball in his spare time and loved watching the Boston Celtics, but he was an avid Washington Redskins Fan. He also loved the legend of Billy the Kid and often joked of being buried with Billy the Kid in Fort Sumner, NM.
He became a "Grumpy" to his granddaughter, Eden Reign, on October 18,2023, twelve hours before his diagnosis of stage IV colon cancer. He fought long and hard for almost 7 months before he passed. Mario was a Christian man, who loved his family, friends, and church. He loved to laugh and have fun all of the time.
Mario is survived by his wife, Chyree Garcia, two children, Jaden Miller (Bailey Maestas), and Jaci Miller, and one granddaughter, Eden Reign Miller. Other survivors include siblings, Adalberto Garcia of Eagle Pass, TX, Basillo (Lupe) Garcia of Santa Ana, California, Teresa (Daniel ) Moralez of Avenal, CA, Tony (Claudia) Garcia of Hagerman NM, Albert (Monica) Garcia of El Paso, TX, Isabel Garcia (Julio Torres) of Hagerman. His surviving in-laws are Bubba and Willy Miller of Hobbs NM, Jack Jones (Cameron) of Raleigh, NC, Robert Miller II (Angela) of Hobbs, NM as well as numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces on both sides.
Mario was preceded in death by his parents, Martin & Petra Garcia, siblings Nancy, Secundo (Zeke) Garcia II, Martin Garcia Jr (Garr) and brother- in- law, Johnny Dyson.
